When people ask what Im going to school for, they automatically think an event planner plans weddings and the line is drawn there. They think I am the poor girl who won't have a life, I won't find love, and my weekends will be booked through the year piecing together flower arrangements and center pieces. As much as I love center pieces, I figured out I wanted nothing to do with being a wedding planner only a couple years ago. The glamor of it all of a sudden wasn't so glamorous anymore, and the older I got, the more I appreciated my weekends off. I have retail to thank for that. No, Jennifer Lopez is not who made me decide my career path, it happens with age, maturity, and okay maybe a little bit of the movie.
So, yes, Im going to school to become an event planner, and by event planner, I mean a meeting planner. A 9-5 Monday-Friday job, which gives me the opportunity to raise a family one day, and have a life outside of my job, because after all, you do what makes you happy. You have one life, and if you are going to work unhappy almost every day of that life, the money or whatever it is, all of a sudden won't be worth it.
